Florida MarriageLicense

The new couple must obtain a Florida Marriage License in the State of Florida prior to the ceremony. The fee is paid directly to the clerk of court: The cost is currently $86 + $3/each additional copy.

All couples can begin their marriage application online before visiting the Clerk and Comptroller's office. This means you can apply from the convenience of your home, anywhere in the world, and at any time of the day or night. Only couples can do the application. But don't panic, it's super easy.

  • You can obtain your Florida Marriage License at any clerk of court in the State of Florida.

  • Both parties must have valid photo identification such as a driver’s license, state identification card, government or military identification card, or a passport.

  • There is no waiting period for out-of-state residents but Florida residents have a 3 day waiting period.

  • If either party was previously married and divorced, the date of the divorce will be required. If the date of the divorce was within the thirty days prior to the new application for a marriage license, a certified copy of the recorded final order will be required. Otherwise, just remember the divorce date to put it down.

  • If either party is from a foreign country and not a U.S. citizen, alien registration documentation, or other proof which contains an alien registration number is acceptable to obtain a marriage license.

  • There is no waiting period for international residents.

  • Most international counties require the parties to register the license at the local registrar's office or government agency, please check with your embassy/consulate or appropriate office.
